Despite federal and provincial funding, the Greater Victoria Harbour Authority has cancelled plans to install shore power for cruise ships at Ogden Point. The initiative aimed to reduce emissions from docked vessels, but the organization cites rising costs as the cause for discontinuing the project.

Great news! The City of Victoria has secured an interim pool location during the Crystal Pool replacement project. The facility at 851 Broughton Street (currently the YMCA/YWCA) will be upgraded and reopen in fall 2026 to provide continued access to swimming, fitness, and recreation programs during construction.

Construction is well underway on the Belleville Terminal Redevelopment Project, which will create a safe, secure, and modern international gateway in Victoria’s Inner Harbour. Recent work includes environmental and structural assessments, utility disconnections, and ongoing demolition of the old terminal and wharf.
Upcoming activities through December include dredging and improved site access.
Collaboration with the Songhees and Xwsepsum Nations continues, with cultural monitors, educational fencing panels, and discussions on incorporating lək̓ʷəŋən art into the new terminal.
