FED Urban Agriculture supports food security by creating garden spaces, delivering educational programs, and promoting urban agriculture. Their goals are food access – helping vulnerable populations grow food; garden creating – establishing gardens on underutilized urban land; and education – creating low-barrier learning opportunities.
“FED Urban Farm is not just a farm. It is a community asset that serves to connect and engage people of all walks of life with our local food system, demonstrating sustainable and accessible forms of agriculture in the heart of our city.”
– Ash Whelan, Program & Operations Manager

Wet Weather Reminder — Bring your cloth bags or totes! Don’t forget to bring along your reusable grocery bags or totes to avoid the soggy demise of our paper bags if you’ll be hitting the elements on the way home. Even just getting to the car during this soggy season could be lethal for your produce — we want it to make it all the way home — not playing a game of 10 pin on the sidewalk!

Fernwood Community Centre is looking for garden volunteers to help restore our native meadow! Are you interested in learning about native plants and meadow restoration? We need your help!
We’re looking for regular garden volunteers to help steward our native meadow, keeping weeds at bay to help the Camas and other native plants get established.
Volunteer work parties will happen every month, & ideally Meadow Stewards will keep an eye on the meadow in between work parties.
If you’d like to find out more, and get on our volunteer list, email jesse@fernwoodnrg.ca
