Summer seedling distribution days are coming to a neighbourhood near you.  Free seedlings will be available the locations listed below for residents who are facing barriers to growing their own food. Please bring a basket, box or bag to transport your seedlings. Seedlings are available while supplies last. Household limits apply. Join us for an afternoon of restoration work in Uplands Park and Cattle Point – lək̓ʷəŋən Territories, Oak Bay BC.
Every Sunday afternoon in August, help to restore our globally endangered Garry Oak ecosystem by removing invasive plants like English ivy (Hedera helix), thistles (Cirsium sp.), Himalayan Blackberry (Rubus armeniacus)and Daphne (Daphne laureola). Instruction, gloves, tools and refreshments provided.
Meet at 1:00pm at the field at the Dorset entrance across from Lincoln Ave.
All ages and abilities welcome to this free activity that helps our Naturehood. Our goal is to make restoration events accessible for everyone, however some terrain and seasonal conditions within the park may provide challenges. If you have concerns or questions, please reach out to us!
This event is taking place on the ancestral territory of the lək̓ʷəŋən people, known today as the Songhees Nation and Esquimalt Nation Nations.
Friends of Uplands Park respects and honours their vital relationship with these lands and waters and how they have stewarded them through countless generations, continuing to the present and into the future.
Branch Out Social-Invasive Plant Removal
Join us in Saxe Point Park to help us remove invasive plants! During this social the parks team will teach you about the invasive species in our public parks and how you can help us manage them! Grab a friend or bring your family and help us protect this beautiful environment!
